Children's Literature

I feel that it is important for parents and teachers to read to children as early as possible. when I talk to my friends who have children, many of then do not realize that when a child first reads a book, is when they are telling stories through the pictures. I tend to encourage my parents to read a story to their child daily, and then let their child read the story back to them. My favorite all time book is the Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss. The reason why this book is my favorite is because this is the first book I was able to read all by myself....
Great childhood memories!!!!!!

  1. Hi Kelsy,
You are making a difference to your families by encouraging them to read to their young children. Even babies need to be read to I and thank you for continuing to encourage literacy the way you are.
Dr. Seuss books are great, aren't they? I will never forget my one son reading "Go, Dog, Go" for the first time. It was so cute and he was so proud of himself. At first he was reading from memory, but soon he recognized words and would notice and point out those words in other printed items around our house.

  2. Well, I believe we should feel the same way reading when it comes to children. It's never too early to read, better yet, picture reading as early in life as possible.

  3. I also love The Cat in the Hat! I have read it so many times that I have most of it memorized. I agree with you about reading to/with your children. Our routine was to read at bed time. I was still reading to my older girls when they were ten and twelve. Many people thought that this was strange but we loved it. We read the entire Left Behind Series (for kids) and we would have discussions about what we read and would laugh, cry and question together.
I am now carrying on the tradition of bedtime reading with my 6 month old grandson!
